Sofia Theatre is the biggest municipal theatre of the city of Sofia and it was founded in 1966.

It has a building with several theatre halls - main stage and chamber hall, with spaces suitable for experimental theatre activity - Marble lobby and summer theatre stage. Sofia Theatre is a repertory theatre with a compact troupe of prominent artists of different generations, technical and administrative staff. The troupe of Sofia Theatre to this day combines respect for traditions, creative experimentation and a different and intriguing presentation of theatrical art.

Each season the theatre offers a repertoire of 10-15 titles. Currently 5 of them have English subtitles.

Our goal is to preserve the theatrical traditions and at the same time to pave the way for the new and modern in contemporary theatre.

The building of Sofia Theatre is currently undergoing renovation. Only the Chamber Hall is opened, where you can watch the plays “Love and Other Accidents,” “Bombshells,” and “Invitation for Dinner”.
